The first step in any dental emergency is to call our office first. Some emergencies like severe pain need to be addressed immediately while others may be able to wait a day or two until we need to see you.
It can be challenging to think clearly if you have an emergency, so here are steps you can take if the need arises:
- Tooth pain – Any tooth pain is a sign of a problem that we need to address quickly. For relief until you see us, use a cold compress and take an over-the-counter pain reliever like ibuprofen.
- Lost crown or filling – Place the crown or filling pieces in a tissue until you see us. We may not need to see you immediately, but we do need to protect the tooth from further damage.
- Knocked-out tooth – This is the most serious of all dental emergencies because we only have a couple of hours in which we can successfully replace the tooth. Handle the tooth by the crown only and keep the root moist in a cup of water, milk, or saliva until you get to our office.
If you are in pain, please call us right away at (360) 748-6624 and we will arrange to see you as soon as possible, usually the same day.
